Aggressive Bichon Frise?
My 1-year old Bichon Frise is very aggressive towards other bigger dogs and men. How can I train him not to bite/bark/growl at them?
He is a bit spoiled, living in a family of 5, with 3 kids (who constantly spoil him)(ages 10, 11, 13) and my husband works overseas so he is rarely around men. When encountered, he bites, and barks without stopping as if he was trying to defend/attack.
Also, he is quite aggressive towards other dogs that are significantly larger than him (german shepards, etc)that could seriously hurt him if he took it too far. I guess you could say he would try to pick fights with those larger than him.
Other dogs around his size or those he is familiar with (around the neighborhood) he has no problems interacting with them. With smaller dogs, he is very gentle and playful, it's just the larger dogs that upset him. With kids, babies and women, (I don't mean to sound sexist, it's just the way it is) he also has no problems, gets along perfectly, very friendly and loves kisses, playful and gentle.
How can I train him to be friendly to everyone? It's causing quite a stir because I don't want him to get hurt when he picks a fight with a dog he couldn't possibly defend himself against, and it's quite a bother when we have guests over and he won't stop barking at the males. (My kids won't allow him to be put in the room, outside or anywhere else he would be by himself)
