The negative things associated with the dry foods are - it has high carbohydrate level and contain low amount of water. Your concern is right. Feeding dry food in excess amount can cause serious health problem to cat. One of the most serious health problems in cat is Diabetes. It is very hard to manage. It cause due to the high level of carbohydrate in dry food. It increases the blood sugar level of strict carnivores. Beside this, dry food is very calorie food and nutrients less and this become the reason for the overweight or obese cat.

Chronic disease is also a dangerous disease for cat which is probably become the reason for mortality in the cat. This is also caused due to the eating of dry food. This disease is caused due to dehydration which is generally caused due to eating of dry food. It may cause feline kidney failure.

Another disease is Cystitis and Bladder/kidney stone. This disease is very common in the cat. It is very painful and severe. Cystitis cause inappropriate urination and stone block the outflow of urine which causes a deadly burst of the bladder. This is caused due to the less amount of water intake.

Inflammatory Bowel disease causes diarrhea, vomiting and constipation in cat. Fatty liver disease, dental disease, Feline Asthma/Allergic Airway Disease is few names of disease which is generally found in cat due to eating dry food in excess amount. So you should control this. I am not saying stop eating dry food but it should be in the limited amount.

If you find any symptoms of any diseases then consult with doctor. Try to feed balanced, grain less, raw-meat diet without any vegetables added.
