No, you are not right. Naturally cats are carnivores and there biology are made in such a way that they cannot go for consuming high level of carbohydrate. Usually high carbohydrate found in the dry food. High carbohydrate is not good for the health of cat and also cats are not fond of this. You have never seen any cat that is chasing down for any biscuit. In the wild, cat generally eat a high moisture content, high protein, meat based diet. These diets contain fair level of fat and only 3 to 5% of carbohydrates.

But the dry food which you are feeding contains 35-50 % carbohydrate. Like other mammals, in cat there is a lack of specific enzymatic pathways and lack a salivary enzyme called amylase due to which it has a physiological decrease in the ability to utilize carbohydrates. There is no need to provide any carbohydrate to cat and excessive feeding cause harm on the health of cat. It cause Obesity or overweight to cat and diabetes.

If you are feeding only dry food to enhance the percentage of carbohydrate then beware of it because there are many health issues are related with dry food like excessive use of dry food cause dehydration, UTI, chronic disease, Stone and liver problem. Give only nutrient cat food, beef and canned meat to your cat.
