My Cat behavior is wired; please suggest what to do now?
My cat is one years old and we have a shag type rug that my cat sucks on like she was sucking her mother. She also sucks plastic bags and likes to get in to it. What is the cause of this kind of behavior and is it serious? In Cat behavior & training Asked by Cathy17 5 Answers 447 Views 2 years ago Resolved |

Hello friend, PICA is an un-finicky feline chewing or eating cords, houseplants etc. It is a situation where your cat eats non-food items that can cause serious health disorders. Cats who are suffering from this can eat any objects. It can be extremely risky to cat’s health if the non-food items are consumed. Non-food items may create infection in the stomach of the cat or cut the blood supply to some important organs. Many house plants are known as toxic for the cats so try to stay away your cat from those kind of plants. If your cat eats these kinds of things then he can be lethargic, vomits, displays strange behaviors and you must take him to the neatest veterinarian as soon as possible. Till now no one knows why the cats go for eating the non-food items i.e. shows the pica behavior. If your pet is showing similar behaviors then take him to the vet and do the complete check-ups. Follow the subscription given by your vet and this is the only way you can save your cat. Answered by Ellie 1 year ago

I read that cats who chew, lick, suckle unusual things suffer from a condition named as PICA. Plastic bags, wool sucking is most commonly seen with the cats who have taken away from their mom in early age. Answered by CALIC007 1 year ago

Plastic bags. According to the studies it has been seen that cats love to be in the bags and boxes. It is in their nature that they go inside them and play with them. Now as far as the sucking goes I can say that this behavior occur in those who lose their mother in early days but need the love and caring from the owner. There are no any wrong things. It is the behavior that shows that he was taken from his mom too soon so he is showing that kind of behavior like sucking and kneading. It's not serious, that's just what comforts your cat. It is also possible that he play with the Answered by Crazycat 2 years ago

Don’t worry about it because it is just a normal behavior for cats that have been weaned from their mom. The behavior of sucking and kneading actually give comforts the kitten just like the thumb–sucking and pacifiers do for toddlers. As they grow up, this habit gets changes to eating food. Food will satisfy them not only the hunger but is also very pleasurable. The Kneading may continue well into the cat’s adult years. Cats show this kind of behavior to recapture those kitten feelings of security, comfort and peace when they were nursing at their mother’s teats. Only make sure that your cat don’t eat or ingest those things that they can’t digest. Answered by Marcee 2 years ago
