What Dog Breeds can live easily with cats? Are puppies better than Big Dogs?
Hi, I am 50 years old person, lives with my wife and one grandchild. We have two cats in which one small female and one big male. Now we are planning to have a dog with us because my grandchild is insisting so much. But I am little afraid about what kind of dog should we take so that no any problems occur. I mean what dog breeds or mixed breeds are the best choices that we can choose. Should we purchase an adult dog or should we need to start from a puppy. Suggest us. It’s nice to hear that you too like cats like me. According to me puppy is the best option to have dogs and cats co-habitat. When your puppy grows up with cats and knowing them, he will treat them just like a toy or friend who can play with him. Some dogs are very risky to keep with the cats since they can attack on them. But there are many dog breeds that can easily live with cats. One of them is Russell Terriers. So at last start with the puppy and train it at home with the cats so that he will be familiar with it. There are some breeds that are known for their very risky nature with cats so never try to take those dogs with your cat otherwise very bad things will occur. Some of those risky dogs are Huskies and Malamutes. You can try those dogs that are soft mouthed breeds. As for example Labs, scent hounds (bassets) are fine with cats. Most of the toy breeds are fine. You can go to your local SPCA or Human Society that can help you finding those breeds that they took with the cats. You can also test which dog breeds are better with cats. Answered by doglover11 2 years ago
