Hey, do you know about the “Phenotype”. It is actually a common problem that typically takes the female regardless of bloodlines and breeding her to the stud. It’s called type breeding or breeding based on the appearance of the sire and the dam. Genotype breeding becomes quite complicated in that it requires a sound knowledge of the breed genetics and an understanding how the pedigrees relates to genetics. It is not for the novice people, it require more scientific approach.

You first need a clear perceptive of your dog’s breed that also includes what it was bred to do. After this you have to know the dogs you're considering – their positive and negative points. This contains conformation, movement, temperament etc. The actual idea is to choose dogs that complement each other. You also need to know the pedigrees of the prospective parents like their strong point and weaknesses. You examine the pedigrees. If the dogs that you are using are the result of outcrosses, it's not a good thing to do. If you are breeding dogs that came using the line breeding or in breeding then you have a much better idea of what you're going to get.
The fact that you can’t know without you do the breeding is which dog or b***h is going to be a good creator. You can breed an excellent example of the breed which just can't reproduce itself, but there's a litter mate which isn't the same quality but is an excellent producer.

It’s nice to know that you have got this kind of topic for the project. It is quite a technical process. In this they first recognize their weak points and then according to the breed standards they choose the stud dog that is strong on those points. For instance if the dog eyes are lighter than they should be, the breeders chooses a dog who has a dark eyes and throw and do the breeding to throw dark eyed pups. After that they compare the pedigrees to see if they match with some related names and common backgrounds. It is actually named as Line Breeding. After satisfying they check for the breed specific problems like hip displaysia for instance.
