The problem with you is that the size of the tank is very limited and it cannot tolerate more than 2 fishes bigger than 1.5 inches each. The only specie that can accommodate itself in such a small tank is betta. You can also try the guppies or platys. If you are able to get the guppies, make sure that all of them are males because an opposite pair would love to mate.

The size of your tank is really very limited for keeping tropical fishes. But still you can go for a pair of guppies or a betta. You can also go for a mosquito fish which is one of the smallest livebearers and is a habitat of freshwater areas from Florida to North Carolina.
