Your doctor has given you right suggestions as if the environment will be clean and disinfected then your pet will recover from sickness very soon. Go for the check up of your Hamster and in the meanwhile clean the cage. Cleaning is a repeatedly occurring process that you should do at least once 3 times a month. The number also depends upon which kind of cage that you are using and how much number of hamsters are there in the cage. For the complete cleaning of the Hamster cage you need to follow these steps:

1.Cleaning – It means removing all the visible dirt and debris from the cage. To do so you can use plain water and a spray bottle to soften the residue. Then use any household soap or liquid for the cleaning. You can use brushes better cleaning.
2.Disinfecting – It means destroying microorganisms or pathogens. Purchase a Doctor approved disinfectant and sprays it on the cage and all the items present in it like the wheel, toys, walls and floor of the cage etc.
3.Rinsing – After disinfecting, rinse the cage and all the accessories till you don’t feel the smell or any residual clearing solution. Perform this step carefully as some cleaners are harmful for hamsters
4.Drying – Finally dry them or wide with a clean towel or cloth. Sun-light will be the good option for the cleaning for killing all the organisms.
