When should you start training your cat not to bite?
I had read in book that cats have a teething period. My cats are about 2 months old now and I am thinking that what can I do to train them not to bite people? I had tried a little water bottle spray but it doesn’t seem to bother him. Have any suggestions? In Cat behavior & training Asked by Tasha24 2 Answers 304 Views 2 years ago Resolved |

Start now! It’s the best time since he is just two month old and things that are teached in early days can be remember whole life. You can try some other stuff when you realize that he is having a teething period. Purchase toy mice and make sure you have many of them because you will need give him very soon. Spraying is not effective on all the cats and there are some cat breeds that are fine with water. Don’t play and firmly admonish verbally. Doing so will teach them that he can bite on some appropriate stuffs only like other cats, toys or cat tree etc. Answered by Crazycat 2 years ago

You can start immediately. Don’t waste your time. Teething is fine till it is not done on the human skin. I usually scruff the kittens and give a tiny shake and say loudly no just like her mom would. I give him only toys to play. You can give him some crunchy treats to chew on. Anything you feel your kitties would like to chew beside human body. If the cat shows the biting actions then just take your spray gun and spray gently to him. Answered by Ellie 2 years ago
