Which is the toughest freshwater aquarium fish to take care for?
I have started keeping fishes in my aquarium. I have now in my tank 10 guppies and 2 bristlenose catfish. I am trying out some different fishes for my new tank. So I was wondering which is the hardest freshwater aquarium fish to take care for? I would love to try out that fish in my new tank. I have had a freshwater tank for nearly a year I started aout with a fantail fancy goldfish but even given my best efforts he died, I was told they are not very hardy. I now have comet goldfish and they have proven to be very hardy entertaining pets. Answered by Gem 2 years ago

I also like collecting fishes in my aquarium. Collecting fish is my hobby. In the past six months, I have had a variety of fishes in my aquarium like goldfish, lion fish, betta etc. Amongst all these fishes I think that Discus was really a pain in the neck for me. This fish is susceptible to a lot of diseases like Hole-in-the-head etc. Secondly this fish requires a lot of space. It cannot survive in a small tank. A big tank with around 20 gallons water is sufficient for this fish. Thirdly the tank requires a lot of filtration because the fry of the Discus feed on the Discus’ milk.
