Why does my kitten have a lump on her stomach? We just picked up a free kitten. When we got home we realized it had a large lump on its stomach. Middle of stomach about the diameter of a quarter. Hi Misseslink, It can be many things but one possibility is an umbilical hernia. This is a small tear on the inside of the abdomen wall where the umbilical cord was attached. Intestines squeeze through the tear causing the lump. Since this is a new kitten I suggest taking her to the vet immediately to have the lump examined and to get he first shots.
