Will the cat dislike me from this day forward?
I recently moved, taking my 4 indoor cats and 6 semi-feral cats. After keeping them indoors in very large crates due to extremely cold weather, I let them get used to the outside of the place while still in the crates, then turned them loose a few days later. Well, (stupid me) ..... I left the patio door open when I opened the cages, and one of them came inside. Prior to this, he had never been aggressive towards me. (He actually showed up about a year and a half ago, and appeared to be somebody's pet that had been left behind.) After hiding inside my house for a day and a half, and me placing food/water and litter close to him, I tried to get him to go outside on his own. (My 4 cats were locked away in my room.) He ran out of the room my son went into, and tried to jump past me into another room, lightly scratching the side of my face near my ear. I understand that he was terrified; but I had to get him out of the house so that I could let my 4 cats out of my room. I return to work tomorrow, and my son returns to school. I figured the longer he stayed inside, the worse it would be for him ..... and I didn't want to come home to mangled cats. Anyway, while my cats were locked up, I opened the patio door and prodded behind the big screen TV (his hideout). He ran outside and out of the gate.
